Rick Testimonial | Full Mouth Reconstruction

Wednesday, January 12th, 2011

My name is Rick.  I had full mouth reconstruction, including all new veneers.  If you saw the before & after pictures, you would be amazed at what Dr. Carson did with my mouth!   It changed my whole life.  The difference between a dentist and a dental hygenist?  I can’t even explain the difference because it is completely different.  I went to several dentists for years, but this is a totally different experience. Makes me not mind coming to the dentist at all anymore.

The procedure was about a 6 to 8 month process.  There was very little pain involved and it was amazing what they could do in that short of time.  I smile a lot more now and a lot more confident.  Before, I was hiding my smile because my teeth were just a mess, but now I get compliments constantly like “wow, you have beautiful teeth.”

Mike Testimonial | Porcelain Veneers

Wednesday, January 5th, 2011

My name is Mike.  In the other dentists I have been to over the years, it has always appeared to be the same type of office.  Dr. Carson’s practice has the latest technology, they go out of their way to make you feel very comfortable, whether it is a drink of water, music, or television.  They always seem to be on the cutting edge of what techniques are out there.

I have been coming to Westlake Dental Arts for three years now. I have heard the horror stories of drilling and what not, but my experience here was very painless and comfortable.  Well the veneer work I had done was actually a present for my wedding that my wife did for me.  The whole process just took a couple of hours. There was no hard recovery.  The office is a very comfortable atmosphere.  Originally, I had a gap between my two front teeth, but now I have 4 new porcelain teeth that looks fabulous!

I am no longer self conscious of my smile, so for face to face meetings, it certainly helps!  Both the whiteness and the smile.

Lane Testimonial | Inlays

Wednesday, December 29th, 2010

My name is Lane.  I have been to other dentists besides Dr. Carson. I have never enjoyed the dentist.  Notoriously, my teeth are very susceptible to cavities.  It has always been a very difficult day and involvement. Dr. Carson’s office is simply a pleasure.  I like coming here.  I arrive at my appointments early because it is fun to talk to the girls who work here, they have great coffee and snacks.  It is funny because in the past, you always want to brush your teeth as much as possible before going to the dentist, but here one of the hygenists told me, “no, no, no, don’t brush.  I really enjoy a challenge when I’m cleaning the teeth” after I just had a handful of trail mix.   Everyone is so nice.   You can get a nice decaffeinated, relax in the chair, listen to music, there is nice energy, and it is actually really fun.

I’ve done everything from a basic cleaning to fillings and inlays. She replaced a lot of old, big silver fillings, and gold crowns with porcelain.  So now, I am much less subconscious.  I have a very big mouth and my whole job is about talking so I am happy I do not see a big silver bottom part of my jaw. So the mouth does look a lot better, I have to say!

Jared Testimonial | PPM

Wednesday, December 22nd, 2010

My name is Jared. I found out about the PPM through Dr. Carson.  She called me one day and told me about this great information she had and told me to look into it and it was pretty incredible.  So first she brought me in and showed me some information on CD: some demos that were done by the guy who created it.  It seemed pretty great.  Then, from that point, I came in and did some tests and that is how it started. Before this, I was using a night guard because I grind my teeth.  Now that I have the PPM, I use it for everything! It is pretty neat. I think this was worth the time and money to get it done.

I own my own personal training company. The athletes I think would get the most benefit from it, but regular people can use it as well. Basketball players to football players to golfers, I think everyone can find some use for it.  I’ve noticed my strength gain has gotten better since using it.  So, I am able to do 1 and 2 more reps where before I would fail.  It has helped me gain in confidence in doing things I wasn’t able to do before.

Janet Testimonial | Tetracycline Stains

Wednesday, December 15th, 2010

My name is Janet W.  I have been coming to see Dr. Carson since before she actually was in Westlake Village, CA.  So, Dr. Carson is a fabulous dentist!  Dentist appointments are my least favorite types of appointments and she makes them great.  When my mother was pregnant, she took tetracycline and it stained my teeth.  So Zoom!™ brightened my teeth, but the stain was just embedded in my teeth, both bottom and upper teeth. So, the next step was to have veneers put on, that’s what I have right now. You know, I was kind of a wussy and afraid to do it, but she insured me that there was not going to be any pain and she took it slow, step-by-step. The process was wonderful.  I was pleased through the whole process.  I am no longer self conscious, I am happy to smile, I am happy to talk and let everyone see my teeth. It is a confidence builder.  I kind of get nervous thinking it is going to be painful and it isn’t.

So, during my procedure, she gave me some giggle gas and I was giggling for hours.  I was like “wow, this is the best dental experience I have ever had.”  She gave me headsets for music and I went through all her CDs that she had in her catalogue and picked my choice of music to listen to, and a blanket and a pillow.  I mean, who wants to leave?  They made me a cappuccino afterwards,  I mean, I was in heaven.  But wherever she is, she will be my dentist.

Janette Testimonial

Wednesday, December 8th, 2010

My name is Janette D. I had meningitis a while back and actually during that time, it was in 2003, I was incubated and they knocked my 2 front teeth out.  So it started with bonding and keep those 2 front teeth.  So, I came and Dr. Carson didn’t try to sell me anything, she just said “this might be something you want to look into” and it just went from having my jaw move to getting caught into the fact that I could get all of my teeth done.  I have had every single tooth replaced in my mouth.  I was really scared coming into it because I always hear these horror stories of how you are going to have these little half teeth and that it can be really painful.  That wasn’t my experience at all!  I felt really at home and really well coached, I felt I was educated about the whole process the whole way through.  It was a very slow process. It felt very preventative rather than just slapping veneers on.  So, I really felt like it was a systemic change, not just a “I want to look nice” change.  I smile a lot more. I definitely feel a lot younger.  I feel as if my teeth match my personality now.   Everyone thinks that getting your teeth done is painful for some reason.  I thought that if I was going to get my teeth replaced that it would be really painful  and a hard process, I was really surprised that it wasn’t.

Everyone is obviously really friendly and I feel really cared about here.

Jane Testimonial

Wednesday, December 1st, 2010

My name is Jane K. I have quite a problem where I had former caps and they were beginning to wear away, you could see aluminum. I was really in trouble of losing my teeth, plus it looked so awful.  You know, I have been with another practice for a long time, it was fine and nothing major occurred, but I had just heard so much about Dr. Carson and her expertise with cosmetic dentistry.  I know I needed some restorative dentistry work on my top teeth and I had just heard about some amazing things about her. When I met Dr. Carson, I knew I was in the right place.  I had about 3 or 4 visits during my procedure, and most work was done within a day.  It was so easy working with Dr. Carson and Maria; they make you laugh all of the time and it is fun to be here.  I don’t remember coming to Dr. Carson as a hardship, they are such a family.  Choosing to get work done is a decision and an investment, but it is the best investment in one’s self for your self esteem and your health.  She gives you all the tools you need. Before I even had the restoration, she sent me home with the water pic device and it is just amazing the tools that she has.  She did such a beautiful job.  Again, I used to put my hand over my mouth, it bothered me more than I ever realized.  So, I had my smile back. It was really a gift.

Comprehensive Exams Malibu Cosmetic Dentist | Westlake Dental Arts

Monday, October 11th, 2010

“We do very comprehensive exams for our new patients and the reason is we are looking at their body as a whole, we aren’t just looking at individual teeth.  So when a patient comes in for their comprehensive exam we will do a full series of photographs to document where they are right now, maybe talk about any concerns that they have.  We will do an oral cancer screening, a blood pressure screening, a periodontal screening which involves looking for any infection in your gum tissue.  We will look at each individual tooth, how your jaw functions and any muscle discomfort you have.  We will then talk to you about what we see in your mouth and what you are mainly concerned about.  Sometimes patients will combine this appointment with an appointment with our hygienist.  An initial appointment with our hygienist they will get there teeth cleaned, however they will also be assessed for existing levels of periodontal disease and periodontal health and recommendations will be made on how they can better take care of their periodontal needs.  Sometimes we study models and we always take digital radiographs which have very low levels of radiation and is very safe and quick for our patients.  They are also very diagnostic and we can read them very well.  We take a look at all this information and come up with a variety of solutions for any individual patients and really come up with what they need and what they want.”

If you are looking for a cosmetic dentist in Malibu, we are currently accepting new patients. Visit our website at

www.WestlakeDentalArts.com for more information.
